GPI Kings aims to develop and sustain measures of genuine progress in Kings County
and to assist community groups, agencies and interest groups to develop and use
these measures for community and individual betterment.
Specifically, GPI Kings will help these groups to:
- Gain access and use of the existing benchmark data
- Define indicators and measures of progress into the future
- Expand the process to include community and other interests not yet served
- Work together on cross-sector analysis to further joint interests;
We have currently identified 22 indicators of progress under the categories of:
-
TIME USE (voluntary work, work hours, child care, value of leisure time)
-
NATURAL CAPITAL (agriculture & soils, forests, marine & fisheries, energy)
-
THE ENVIRONMENT (greenhouse gas, sustainable transportation, ecological footprints,
air/water quality, solid waste)
-
SOCIOECONOMIC (Income distribution, debt, valuation of durability, security index)
-

Our goal is to have an impact on local, provincial and national policy development and to
